Notice to Business Owners
All persons who, as of October 1, 2015 are conducting any type of business, must complete and file a Personal Property Declaration with the Old Saybrook Assessor’s Office no later than November 2, 2015. Failure to file by November 2, 2015 will result in a 25% penalty. Declarations can be obtained online by the link above, or they can be picked up in the Assessor’s Office between 9:00 and 4:00 Monday through Friday. The Assessor’s office will only accept USPS Postmarks, Pitney Bowes postmarks will not be honored.
Exemptions
The State of Connecticut and the Town of Old Saybrook offer many exemptions to persons who are; renters and homeowners over the age of 65 with income restrictions, collecting Social Security disabilty, Blind, Veterans, Active Duty Military Personel, or owners of Farmland. This is not an all inclusive list. All exemptions are time sensitive. To find out more about exemptions or to see if you would qualify please call our office.
Board of Assessment Appeals
Those who feel they are not properly assessed may make application to the Board of Assesment Appeals. Applications may be obtained in the Assessor's office and can be returned to the Assessor's office between February 1st - February 20th of every year.
