The Chairman called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m.

Approval of Minutes:
MOTION: to approve the minutes of May 11, 2010 as presented.

Energy Conservation:
There was an extensive discussion on the need to establish a plan for energy conservation in Old Saybrook and how to accomplish that. Everyone agreed that for such a plan to be successful, the town government must be the role model. Jerry Brophy has been talking to members of Madison’s Energy Committee, which has an active program and a joint grant with other area towns to audit and control energy use and cost. The commission’s next step will be to provide some of this information to the First Selectman and seek his endorsement of such a program.
Referral of Site Plan for 142 Ferry Road Application to the Zoning Commission:
Mike Kelley led a discussion of the site plan for this application, centering on the open space offer by the applicant and considerations within the purview of the Conservation Commission. The commission will send a referral letter to the Zoning Commission.
Other Updates:
Pat Ingellis reported that the Eagle Scout who has been working with him has completed his project to mark boundaries along a portion of the Great Cedars Conservation Area.
