We are one of the oldest towns in the state, incorporated on July 8,1854.   We have a long history dating back to 1635, when we began as an independent colony known as the Saybrook Plantation.

Children's Library
The Children's Library

The Children’s Library has story times; Preschool Story TIme, "Story Time for Wee-Ones", and Slumber Time Tales in the Summer.  For older childen the Library offers; The "Nutmeggers" a middle school age reading group.  Special activities are the Halloween Story Time, Halloween Party, visit to the K. E. Goodwin School, Santa's Mail Box, Christmas Party with a visit from Santa, and a Library Happy Birthday Party.

The Children's Room Computers

The Children's Room provides filtered computer use with parental/guardian permission. There are reference, educational, and entertainment CD-ROMs available.  Please ask at the Information Desk for help.
