Old Saybrook Police Announce the Adoption of New Mission Statement –
Society’s changing and evolving needs for law enforcement have prompted the police department to examine and redefine their mission to the citizens and visitor’s of Old Saybrook. The content of the new mission statement was a collaboration of ideas and suggestions from department personnel, citizens, and police commissioners. Now, more then ever, Law Enforcement agencies need to reassure the communities in which they serve that they are safe and the police have their best interests in mind. The mission statement also exemplifies the department’s commitment to complying to State of Connecticut accreditation guidelines.
Mission Statement:
The mission of the Old Saybrook Department of Police Services is to provide superior traditional and non-traditional law enforcement services to the citizens and visitors of the Town of Old Saybrook.
The members of our department will provide these services with understanding and compassion, honesty and integrity, and with the highest ethical and moral standards. Members of the department will consistently demonstrate their commitment to the community through their honorable, just, and courageous actions. Our priorities are the preservation of life, the protection of property, and protecting the rights of all individuals as provided by the United States Constitution and the Constitution of the State of Connecticut.
Through diligence, community partnerships, professional development and adherence to professional standards, department members will demonstrate our department’s commitment to excellence.
