Wide Eyes
Wide eyes searching
Looking at me, through me
Unlike an ordinary child of so few years
Overpowerig intensity
That makes me drop my gaze
The ancient eyes see me
Looking further into me than I would like
Discerning a truth that exposes me
A sallow complexion emphasizes the immensity of the eyes
A trembling shell of a what a child should be
Though only six or seven years old
The pupils have captured a lifetime of misery
Windows into a soul that has experienced the cruelty of humanity
Time has worn the innocence of childhood far too thin
The incorrigible destruction destroys me
